The color screen is not backlit enough to be seen in the sunlight, and I needed stronger glasses just to see things on the screen. The buttons lie in a small area, which makes them hard to use with two thumbs and the directional toggle is jerky and imprecise. Of the budget models we reviewed our testers always grabbed the Garmin eTrex or Dakota and not the eXplorist I'd recommend the touch screen if you can afford it, but all in all, this one isn't bad for the money. Where this particular version of the product had issues, was that it was sold as a Topo!

The only negative I have for the unit itself is that I think the screen is too small, and hard to read out in the field. The photos can be seen better the nature of the terrain. Good little workhorse I bought this specifically for geocaching. Waterproof; this handheld GPS receiver comes handy even when going river rafting or using it in wet weather. The only restriction exploridt the extent of internal memory. I would recommend a larger version for field work, and if you need Topo maps, go wi th the Summit maps version.

With a MB of user memory; this handheld GPS receiver lets you store additional maps; way points and other apps. The screen is also small and the performance slower than most other units we reviewed. I previously used my phone which has Google maps installed so I can see which tree to go and examine once I put the co-ordinates in. Having owned a previous version of this unit, I felt that I had a head start in the set-up process.

And when I purchased it, it never worked properly, couldn't download any maps, so got my money refunded.
